A big thank you to HERI MADAGASCAR who donated a solar kit to J'irai à l'école. This donation helps to overcome the problems of the delay in connecting to the electricity network which still deprives the school of electricity, despite a request for connection made more than 6 months ago.
Thanks to this solar kit composed of two bulbs, a tube lamp, a torch and a radio, Nathan, the caretaker, and Tahina, his wife, the school cook, will be able to light their home, the kitchen and make night rounds.
We are working to find other solutions that will allow us to power the principal's and teachers' computers while waiting for the connection to the network.
Madagascar is one of the sunniest countries in the world. There are more than 2,300 hours of sunshine a year in the capital Antananarivo where the school is located. Solar energy is a renewable energy source that is increasingly used in Madagascar to power homes.
