Support from far away
We are pleased to announce that the Canadian organization MONDE PAR LA MAIN-GIVE A HAND has decided to fund the creation of a computer lab at the new College of the Little Giants. This organization supports initiatives for social transformation and sustainable development that benefit the most disadvantaged people around the world. Our project to create a computer lab to combat the digital gap affecting Malagasy children caught their attention. After several months of collabo

The Embroidery Workshop
A new activity has been launched at the Petits Géants school: the Embroidery Workshop. Two mothers of students volunteered to lead this workshop every Wednesday afternoon. It was an instant hit with both young and old, and equally popular with girls and boys. Embroidery, an ancient art in Madagascar, is renowned worldwide and plays a significant role in the Malagasy textile industry. Discovering and learning this craft at school is a valuable asset for the Little Giants with

Andy sings to escape.
Andy is a charming 10-year-old boy. He receives a scholarship from J’IRAI A L’ECOLE and is in second grade. His mother, who is expecting her second child, is unemployed, while his father works six days a week as a bicycle delivery driver. After paying the bike rental fee, his monthly salary ranges from €35 to €40. The family rents two small rooms (8 square meters each) in a house with no running water or electricity. Yet in this modest home, sitting on the small table, is a p

Madagascar: A rapidly growing population!
According to the United Nations, Madagascar currently has a population of 33 million, with an annual growth rate of 2.4%—well above the global average (0.8%). More than 60% are under the age of 25! 42% now live in cities, which is putting pressure on housing and urban services. These figures show that Madagascar’s education and health systems must accommodate and support hundreds of thousands of children each year. This dynamic can become a real economic asset: by investing i

Monkeypox in Madagascar: Vigilance and Collective Responsibility
Monkeypox (or Mpox) has now become a public health concern in Madagascar. A milder form of human smallpox, the disease causes fever, body aches, and headaches, followed by a rash. It is contagious as soon as the first symptoms appear. The Madagascan Ministry of Health has reported 150 confirmed cases to date across various regions, as well as numerous suspected cases being closely monitored by health authorities. The numbers continue to rise, calling for increased vigilance f

Schools in the Tarn are rallying behind the Little Giants!
The school in Grazac responded enthusiastically to our call to support The Little Giants. Under the leadership of Nathalie, the principal, the project was warmly received by parents, teachers, and the town hall. Together, they decided to come together to help fund the school cafeteria and the purchase of educational materials for the Malagasy students. Annick, a member of J’irai à l’école, visited the classrooms to introduce the children of Grazac to the daily lives of young

My teacher Tahina, “I love her so much”
Tahina is pretty much the teacher every pupil would like to have. Last year at the School of the Little Giants, she taught fourth grade. This year, she wanted to stay with her students through fifth grade, right up to the middle school entrance exam. A pillar of the school since its opening, Tahina is a gentle and respected figure—discreet yet indispensable. She lives near the school, which allows her to always be available for her students and their families, even outside of

Madagascar : 120th out of 123 countries according to the Global Hunger Index
Last week, the German organization Welthungerhilfe released its annual report. The findings for Madagascar are alarming: 🔸 39.5% of the population is undernourished. 🔸 38.4% of children under 5 suffer from stunted growth. 🔸 7.2% of children under 5 are emaciated. 🔸 6.5% of children die before their fifth birthday. These figures reflect a dire reality: years of drought exacerbated by climate change, a weakened economy, and families whose livelihoods are becoming increasing

Portrait of Hazard
Hazard is a 4-year-old boy in the middle class at the School of the Little Giants. Energetic and always on the go, he dreams of becoming a professional soccer player or a tuk-tuk driver. His name is no coincidence: his parents chose it in honor of the Belgian international soccer player Eden Hazard! Hazard lives with his little brother Arias, his parents, and his grandmother in a single room accessed by a ladder. As is often the case, it is the mother who is the sole breadwin
